For a while in the US, we has some "fairness" laws that were to force everyone to get a voice, but that doesn't mean it was factual nor ethical. What's funny is, a wall would do that anyways. Because you still have to patrol the exterior of the wall, so your wall *shouldn't* be directly on the border anyways, not unless you want to put it on the mexican side in which case mexico and it's citizens have every right to slice it down and there's actually nothing you can do about it

My dad was telling me how he opposes any action on climate change and I started in on trying to convince him that climate change is real only for him to tell me that he already believes that. He just doesn't care because dealing with it will be too much of a hardship and because the world doesn't have long left and God will sort it all out. My Father knows a family that is Jehovah Witness, and the Grandfather and grandson were extremely close ( he was around 8 or 10) so much so that when the grandfather passed away they had to watch the grandson because he figured that since his grandfather was in heaven and heaven is such a great place then he would just go and join him. (He didn't but I gather they had to do a lot of back talking to convince him to wait to join his grandfather)

It’s not really a successful cop out though. Asking for forgiveness on your deathbed with no integrity in your heart means that forgiveness isn’t granted. A priest can’t grant absolution if the heart is still filled with malice. Which honestly just sounds like they don’t believe there is an afterlife at all and they are just going through the motions as a just in case thing.
