They make a new one of these memes every year. Nobody watches mTV anymore, who's still salty about their shitty programming?

My neighbors uncle used to be on the programing team, he was fired in 2001.

All the music was on MTV2, still false advertising.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotta say. The early 80's was tremendous on MTV.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They just split the music across multiple channels. They show more music today than ever. MTV Classic, Live, CMT, NickMusic, BET Gospel etc

41 years? Fuck me.

If I keep my body moving and my mind occupied at all times, I avoid falling into a bottomless pit of despair

Good music and what used to be good shows. Beavis & Butt head, Daria, Celebrity Deathmatch

What even is MTV these days? More to the point, why?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I miss the actual music tv. Headbangerz ball and beavis and butthead ripping it on bands, old vids and new wall to wall.

MTV Unplugged and Yo! MTV Raps.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And don't forget 120 minutes

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Both ran until '95. My favourite Alternative Nation ran from '92 until '97. MTV was pretty decent until the late '90s really. Just feels 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

2/2 longer ago.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

JFC. How much Ridiculousness can they show? Fucking waste of oxygen

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

That was a trippy show

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I still have The Maxx on VHS

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wow I haven't even thought about MTV for at least 20 years.

MTV stopped playing music, instead gave us reality TV, which gave us The Apprentice which gave us Donald Trump. MTV destroyed America.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

COPS is considered the progenitor of reality TV , but yea "real world" certainly didn't help .

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Last time I watched the channel was for an episode of Wild Boyz a few days before my had enough of DirectTV's bs in 2011

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MFers acting like the late 90s and early 2000s with the TRL era wasn't amazing.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm so old I remember when MTV first premiered. I was only 2 but vividly recall some of the first videos like "Video Killed the Radio Star"

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Electric Avenue", "Money 4 Nuthin", "She Blinded Me With Science", "Karma Kameleon", "Whip it" and don't forget "Never Gonna Give You Up"

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TIL MTV and I have 2 things in common. We're both 41 this year, and we both only had 10 good years.

People have been making this joke since they played music.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oldie but a goodie: https://youtu.be/9ysyZF-DZFY

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That should ALWAYS be a top response to the "Hurr hurr MTV doesn't play music" memes. It's so brutally honest and succinct.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I post this link on every time I see this joke. Never gets much traction though.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They did play music videos and performances up until 2000ish then it went to pregnant teens and other random crap.

Hey I loved Made

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Remember when they used to play music on MTV2?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The very last cry of Mtv was 2003 when they started the headbanger's ball on mtv2

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

@OP didn't say 10 CONSECUTIVE years.

4 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Yeah, they started the reality garbage long before the ten years on the air mark.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And if course, it specifies "good" music, so much of the 80's is out.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Real World aired in 92

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Having lived in NY in the 90’s, it was all about teen bands and the live sessions with guests. Can’t recall the name.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

The one that killed a viewer every episode? Hence all the screaming.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

41 is so fucking OLD.

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 6

Hey!! I resemble that.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Pups..., all y'all.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, thanks a lot ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s funny since Kristen Bell is also 41

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ok now I feel young again. She looks amazing.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know I just hit 30 and I feel like I should be picking out burial plots

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Honestly not a bad idea. The price is only going to go out, may as well get final disposition arrangements sorted and paid for now.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

UP not out. Fuck me for not proof reading.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its younger than me

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The Maxx ...Still not sure what was going on in that one. But it was cool.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh huh.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where would the industry be without them?

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We'd have more talented but uglier musicians.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Hendrix would probably still be alive. Haha

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

He died over ten years before they started.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

People like to bitch about MTV but even though they don't do the thing that made them famous, they changed the world by doing it once.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Who even watches MTV anymore? I mean, how do they still exist? Isn’t the channel basically run by some computer they forgot to turn off?

4 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 0

I think I read somewhere that South Park signed a huge deal with MTV.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some stations survive solely because you buy TV service as a whole. It doesn't matter if no one's watching, they're still paying for it.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

There's an artist drawn doujin to that effect for girl's last tour. Chii and Yu find themselves in an endless loop romance movie. Tragic.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that sounds like a bit of a writing prompt for a story, tv studio run by a computer, one day it stops getting new content and just >

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

constantly recycles the old content it already had, not knowing the human race is gone

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

With no new content being inputted, it begins using machine learning to generate shows.>
