It's main purpose was as a reddit link. It had a good run and cool history with Sarah and all, but nothing lasts forever, people move on, and not many people are motivated to create content for imgur. Younger people are on Tiktok and instagram more than anything. Front page posts years ago needed thousands of upvotes, now it's like 10% of that. So yeah. It's pretty much a dead website now, so it was matter of time before it was sold off and turned into an ad pool.

Long story short, the fact that Notifications have been COMPLETELY non-functional for the four days and counting with not so much as a "We're aware of the issue", has been the straw that has broken the camel's back in the wake of the mountain of shitty practices Medialab has inflicted on Imgur since they acquired it, and the fact that they fired all the US staff has not helped.
