I'm a straight white male and these dudes are disgusting me to my core. I'm about to make a Twitter so I can comment band threaten to rape them see how they like it
As a man, if your friends are posting that shit or "joking" about it you need to answer back to them and make it abundantly clear that this is unacceptable.
Also, make them explain the joke. Make them explain to you why it's funny. Don't let up until they do. Be belligerent about it. People tend to get real squirmy when you put them on the spot like that. Suddenly it's not so funny after all.
One time, a male "friend" was describing how hot he thought an actress was by saying, "She will be raped." I looked him dead in the face & told him that my cousin had been raped & so have about a quarter of the women he knows. My ex brushed *me* down after, telling me that I made it awkward. Oh, the guy who thought sexual violence & people's real trauma didn't make it awkward?
That's utterly disgusting. I can't even begin to fathom how twisted someone would have to be to think that way. Or to defend it for that matter, no matter how mildly.
From what my friend told me, the women are already fighting back since a lot of these idiots have their school and job in their bio and send screenshots of this stuff. I think they said one has already been suspended from his school.
I think I picked the right guy - he’s been incredibly emotional and sad for me and all other women about the results of this election. I’ve seen him get into debates and serious conversations with other men who have a different opinion. There are some good ones and some of them are willing to lose friends and “respect” from other men just to try their best to get others to understand
There are lots of good ones. Problem is the ones who are the most disgusting get the most attention so it perpetuates. All the men I know would have serious words with anyone who said that and would drop them from their circle and really that's the only appropriate response
Yeah. Mine is a good one, too. He has empathy for all bullied people because he was bullied terribly as a child, mostly by boys who are probably espousing this shit now.
Post 'your body, my choice'; "Lol it's just a joke, you libs are so easily triggered" Propose to remove various rape protections; "Lol it's just a joke, you libs are so easily triggered" The proposals actually pass; "Lol it's just a joke, you libs are so easily triggered" Actually rapes you; "Lol it's just a joke, you libs are so easily triggered" Cops/Legal System do nothing about it; "Lol it's just a joke, you libs are so easily triggered"
I've only seen the one where the woman shoots the guy saying it. Those are memes I can appreciate. I can't imagine just how fucked up anyone actively saying "Your body, my choice" and meaning it must be though.
wait wtf i thought people were saying that sarcastically, like as a way to make people realize how chilling the state of affairs are. are people actually exulting in that shit??
Jesus fuckin' Christ. You heard it here, women in and around Berwyn, Illinois... conceal carry and be ready to take this chud down if he or some poor bastard who takes him seriously comes after you. Protect your own life and safety over that of a fuckin' nazi shitheel.
They'll regret taking this stance when they discover "your body, my choice" is a 2-way street upon which they do not always find themselves on the choosers' side.
It's easy to spot Nazis like Fuentes, being as visibly bigoted as he is, but the real danger is that guys you would've never suspected to be the same way will feel empowered to start speaking their bigotry louder and louder.
I admit, out of spite I looked at their profile to see if they have a gf, wife etc and responded with “-insert name-‘s body, my choice”. Have received 0 replies
Men, you see the men in your life pulling this crap, you HAVE to get angry and in their face. These types of men have to be confronted in terms they understand at first, then you can have rational conversations later. If you all sit around and do nothing, you are giving them your silent approval.
Female Trump supporter are like large, unteachable toddlers who are allowed to vote and who are eager to eat a bag of tide pods, 24/7 - 365 days a year. And once they got that bag, everyone must eat one. Normally one should protect them from themself, but instead their vote counts as much as mine. This is all so very fucked up. I'm really sorry for the people in the US.
I know it's absolute arrogant to say my vote should count more, but idc at this point. Yes, here we go - My vote should count more than the vote of a giant toddler.
Females who vote Conservative are spitting in the face of the OG suffragettes. They did not fight for women's suffrage to gain more votes for the misogynistic Nazi side...
You're right, the votes of these idiots should definitely be disregarded. The issue that an uninformed or outright evil voter's vote weighs the same as of a well-read liberal educator's needs to be addressed in modern democracies or demagogues will continue to abuse the system and brainwash millions.
spot on! l live in Denmark and men are generally very civil and often even feminist, so l struggled to choose the bear, but l too am getting it. the problem however with the women who support these men is the normalisation of the violence. we tend to defend at all costs what we consider to be the norm - change is more scary than anything, our brains are NOT wired to want change. we conserve energy by doing what we always do, and we feel safe in what we know. we choose what we know!
Except that a huge majority of cishet white women came out and voted FOR Trump/MAGA so I gotta be real with you, the numbers clearly show they do NOT choose the bear when pressed.
White women Harris voter here, but I live in a red town, county, state. All of our formerly hippie &, veteran dems went, and it was hard to watch. However, even orange loving women can choose the bear. We are talking a strange man. I can't imagine not taking the bear.
I'd argue 53% is hardly a huge majority. If it were any other situations you'd likely call it half. That being said, any percent is too many percents and half is still wild. Wtf white american women
I know you've seen the meme of "I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about others". This is the same thing. Women are tired of playing Russian Roulette in society. It's not that hard to figure out. But again, we can't understand it for you, at a point you have to do the mental work of understanding yourself.
Like I was just saying on another comment. I get that violence against women is a serious issue, and some men are dangerous. But saying all men are worse than bears is a stretch.
Let's not spread fear by exaggerating. Generalizing like this is toxic and doesn't help address the real issues.
Same thing as having men who don't want to walk right behind a woman on the street with no one else around, and the men who are the reason a woman wouldn't want a man walking behind her with no one else around.
Sure, its quite easy really unless I misunderstand the premise.
"Choosing between a bear and a man" To my knowledge, it doesn't specify what kind of man. It could be their lovely grandpa, or a perfectly normal guy, yet, with their massive bias, they choose the wild animal that will eat them alive, smart.
So, usually, the type of person that will say they feel safer with the bear, are the kind of asshole that assumes 50% of humanity are monsters. Quite dehumanizing if you ask me.
For reference, the question is not about encountering one, but simply being stuck in a forest with one. You can avoid the bear, but a malicious man will try to find you. And yes, the man *can* be nice, but the idea is whether you would bet on a random man. That might just as well be a rapist.
Think of it like this; you have 1000 cookies in front of you, but know that one of them is actually just very well-disguised literal shit. Would you take a cookie, knowing that 99.9% is safe, or will you pass, knowing there is a chance you'll be putting literal shit in your mouth?
Exactly dude. It COULD be a good dude, but it also could be a violent dude. And there's no way to tell, and the consequences of not knowing is way worse than anything the bear could do if its the bad one.
Plus as someone whos been around a lot of bears and a lot of men and angry bear is less scary than an angry man, and a chill bear is a lot better than the average man. Bears mostly just wanna leave you alone and have a snack.
So... because it COULD be a bad dude, a bear that pretty certainly would maul you to death is the reasonable choice. I see. This is like the people that think that flying a plane is more dangerous than driving, absolutely disconnected from reality.
The premise doesn't specify "a bad men" or "angry men" at any point, like I said, it could be a lovely grandpa. In fact, in the world there are more lovely grandpas than dangerous psychopaths for sure.
No, the point is that STATISTICALLY, they are safer with a bear than a man. It isn't about feelings, it's about the fact that a wild animal that most would consider dangerous is still safer than a man per encounter. The fact that 100% of a species of wild animal is statistically safer than 50% of our own should be worrying, and you should want to change that, not people's minds about it.
You aren't though, literally look at the stats. If I try to put 100 women alone with a man, nobody bats an eye. If I try to put 100 women with bears... sudently things change? Let's be real for fucks sake.
I have to point out that the question also does not specify the type of bear.
Also, most bears are generally not aggressive, because they wouldn't eat a human for food. The major risk factors are if it's a polar bear, you accidentally get too close to cubs, or that bear has some kind of issue that makes it violent.
Also if a bear decides to kill you, it'll probably just do that. It'll also most likely do a decently fast job, and definitely not sexually assault you and brag about it.
The US has around 900k blackbears, and adding the rest should get to about a million. The average is around 1 death per year, and 6 injured. Most sources say encounters with bears are quite rare, but they have around a 15% chance of death and an 85% of injury, so that's where I took the injured numbers. Sadly we lack data about sightings, but needless to say, a bear encounter is orders of magnitude more dangerous than a random man.
Right? We're such assholes, being leery of men as a whole after a lifetime of being harassed, touched, abused, stalked, catcalled, and otherwise dehumanized by them. /s Seriously, if you're this damned ignorant, YOU'RE the kind of man we specifically don't want to encounter alone in the woods.
You are an asshole for automatically judging 50% of people, yes.
First, I'm sorry that happened to you, it sucks. Scum like that should be caged like the animals they are. But even most of those will be better than a fucking bear, for fucks sake. Nevermind that the majority are better than the scum you mentioned.
Second, not the entire world is the US or act like it.
And last, you automatically labeling me in your head due to one disagreement online, shows how flawed your thought process is.
The bear lives there. It’s just going about its life. Probably mittering to itself about how much kids eat these days and how clearly it didn’t make its mother go out for food nearly this often.
I think it's harder to do by accident than you think so long as you have decent morals, which based on your comment you do. Good people put out green flags as much as bad ones wave red ones. If you're the type to change your walking speed because you don't want to seem like your creepily following a person at night, most people will pick up on the green flags.
And what you fail to realize is that a bear is easy to control. There are a billion ways to avoid the very single mindedness of a bear. The bear won't hide it's intentions, and when convinced to leave, it actually leaves. Bear attacks are rare. Yet every woman has a story about a man assaulting them in some way. Men veil themselves in civility until it's advantageous for them to do things even bears will never do. My 4th grade daughter already has personal experience with this from a classmate.
I've been saying that women ought to start shooting back when sexual assault enablers threaten their life or safety. I just want them to know that I mean it. A few more pistol-packing mamas might make them think twice before they think of sexual assault as a joke.
You know what happened the people of majority black communities tried to make it more common for them to carry weapons, in an effort to discourage the violence and persecution they faced?
They didn't become smaller targets. The Klansmen who lynch them do so because they're fragile and scared and need to establish dominance. So armed black people are BIGGER targets. The guns made them even more vulnerable, even more exposed. And the law sure as shit wouldn't protect them if they used those guns.
And that's what we're terrified of as Black Women. How are we to protect ourselves. We already have a double target on our heads and the thought of arming ourself is hard to think of for a lot of us, especially those of us in red states.
Concealed carry seems like a quick way to get shot by the police when they ask if you are armed. It's really a rock and a hard place kinda moment.
Learn self defense. Learn to kick, punching, throw and lock. Learn some knife skills. Learn to study your surroundings. Learn the mindset to fight. I keep seeing "get a gun", and they are effective, but they are not the end all be all of self defense.
In a SA situation, they got close and have hands on you. You need to get those hands off by any means possible. The idea isn't to kill, but get away. I want to try and come up with a pamphlet or instructional to help, but I need to think straight.
Now this is helpful, thank you. I had a long, involved conversation with my husband about arming ourselves and I came to the conclusion that I just can't do it. Not to defend myself, not to defend the people I love. I just can't take a life, not under any circumstance. I'll have to find another way to contribute.
Unfortunately, that can be a dangerous suggestion. When women attempt to defend themselves with guns, more often than not those guns are turned against them.
The only thing I could find supporting that assertion was a meta-study behind a paywall. I do not mean to suggest that it's not dangerous to own a gun -- but if you do have one for self-defense, please realize that it's of NO use until you pull the trigger.
I am a cirrhotic, bible-thumping redneck with a chip on my shoulder and a fearful, hateful view of [insert minority], including you. If I have a gun and you do not, then I will not have to shoot you to bully you and push you around. I feel powerful, strong, safe.
But if we both do, then you are no longer just a victim, now you're a threat. If I bully you and push you around, you may shoot me. I feel scared and vulnerable. My impulse is to reclaim my position of power by removing you from yours.
That's using a gun as a safety blanket, not a self-defense tool. Or, it's a great example of why just having a gun isn't ever enough. You need to be willing to use it, and have others who will support you when you do. Otherwise, it's just an expensive cosplay piece.
Warning shots by women end up with "unlawful discharge" charges. Just insane. Stand your ground only counts if you hit your target, and kill them dead.
No, they hold *their* 2nd amendment rights over women's rights. If liberal women started carrying guns en masse, they'd change their tune very quickly.
"Organized militia. Women weren't allowed to serve in the military or militia when the constitution was written/amended, therefore the right to bear arms was never intended to apply to women." There you go. I am a supreme court prophet. Remember my prescience.
What's crazy is that it's natural for an American to immediately to to guns for their solution. Like, is there anywhere else in the world where thus happens?
It doesn't require a particularly keen intellect to conclude that, more often than not, guns make things worse. Just an honest bit of introspection.
As a human being, I can imagine a scenario and place myself in it. As a human being, I can experience a decent approximation of the emotions that I would feel in that scenario. My imagination can trigger some of the same instincts and impulses as real experiences.
And I find that a gun makes me nervous, even when it's aimed at my enemy.
I remember thinking to myself, during my army service, that the fact that I was surrounded by guns wasn't on my mind at all. But then, when I started thinking about it, I realized that wasn't true.
I wasn't thinking about the guns, no. But there was a part of that hot-rodded monkey-brain we humans have stuffed into our skulls that was *aware* of the guns. Always aware. In hindsight, it was like the little plastic safety lid covering the fight or flight buttons was lifted, if that makes sense.
And this was in the de-facto Kingdom Of Safe And Responsible Gun Owners. The 2A-clowns' wet dream. A society where everyone is armed and everyone treats that as a solemn responsibility.
And still, those guns register as threats. They still make people jumper than they would have been in their absence.
it's actually the way the world works ever since the invention of the 6 shot revolver. Violence or the threat of violence has always been the ultimate political tool. without it, we wouldnt have countries or laws or "justice systems".
Just about every single human being that has existed for the last 80 000 years has had a knife or similar implement with them everywhere they went.
And in terms of weapons intended to kill other humans, serving little to no other purpose, the spear has shed more blood than any other weapon.
So what kind of distinction are you drawing with the six-shot revolver? From where I'm sitting, it doesn't look like it made much of a difference in "the way the world works."
sorry i just saw this. youre absolutely right, it isnt fundamentally different than using different weapons. i just meant to point out that every country uses guns for their armed forces ever since they've been reliable enough to use regularly and easily.
I think it would happen anywhere that they are available, when a party comes into power that is threatening people's existence. I am 61, and have never owned a gun, but am considering it now, because people are going to need protection, and our police force cannot be trusted.
Yes. I can see your point. I am so sorry it has come to this in what is supposed to be the land of the free. As an Australian with adult children, my heart is breaking for the future

ClessAurion
Like I was just saying on another comment. I get that violence against women is a serious issue, and some men are dangerous. But saying all men are worse than bears is a stretch.
Let's not spread fear by exaggerating. Generalizing like this is toxic and doesn't help address the real issues.
soepie7
Same thing as having men who don't want to walk right behind a woman on the street with no one else around, and the men who are the reason a woman wouldn't want a man walking behind her with no one else around.
baldricka
Care to explain how a woman not feeling safe around particular types of men makes them assholes?
ClessAurion
Sure, its quite easy really unless I misunderstand the premise.
"Choosing between a bear and a man"
To my knowledge, it doesn't specify what kind of man.
Quite dehumanizing if you ask me.
soepie7
For reference, the question is not about encountering one, but simply being stuck in a forest with one. You can avoid the bear, but a malicious man will try to find you. And yes, the man *can* be nice, but the idea is whether you would bet on a random man. That might just as well be a rapist.
soepie7
Think of it like this; you have 1000 cookies in front of you, but know that one of them is actually just very well-disguised literal shit. Would you take a cookie, knowing that 99.9% is safe, or will you pass, knowing there is a chance you'll be putting literal shit in your mouth?
QueenOfTheFey
Exactly dude. It COULD be a good dude, but it also could be a violent dude. And there's no way to tell, and the consequences of not knowing is way worse than anything the bear could do if its the bad one.
Plus as someone whos been around a lot of bears and a lot of men and angry bear is less scary than an angry man, and a chill bear is a lot better than the average man. Bears mostly just wanna leave you alone and have a snack.
ClessAurion
So... because it COULD be a bad dude, a bear that pretty certainly would maul you to death is the reasonable choice. I see. This is like the people that think that flying a plane is more dangerous than driving, absolutely disconnected from reality.
The premise doesn't specify "a bad men" or "angry men" at any point, like I said, it could be a lovely grandpa. In fact, in the world there are more lovely grandpas than dangerous psychopaths for sure.
lcplspanky
No, the point is that STATISTICALLY, they are safer with a bear than a man. It isn't about feelings, it's about the fact that a wild animal that most would consider dangerous is still safer than a man per encounter. The fact that 100% of a species of wild animal is statistically safer than 50% of our own should be worrying, and you should want to change that, not people's minds about it.
ClessAurion
You aren't though, literally look at the stats. If I try to put 100 women alone with a man, nobody bats an eye. If I try to put 100 women with bears... sudently things change?
Let's be real for fucks sake.
cambam3000
I have to point out that the question also does not specify the type of bear.
Also, most bears are generally not aggressive, because they wouldn't eat a human for food. The major risk factors are if it's a polar bear, you accidentally get too close to cubs, or that bear has some kind of issue that makes it violent.
Also if a bear decides to kill you, it'll probably just do that. It'll also most likely do a decently fast job, and definitely not sexually assault you and brag about it.
ClessAurion
The US has around 900k blackbears, and adding the rest should get to about a million. The average is around 1 death per year, and 6 injured.
Most sources say encounters with bears are quite rare, but they have around a 15% chance of death and an 85% of injury, so that's where I took the injured numbers.
Sadly we lack data about sightings, but needless to say, a bear encounter is orders of magnitude more dangerous than a random man.
LateNightBunnyParty
ClessAurion
You are an asshole for automatically judging 50% of people, yes.
First, I'm sorry that happened to you, it sucks. Scum like that should be caged like the animals they are. But even most of those will be better than a fucking bear, for fucks sake.
Nevermind that the majority are better than the scum you mentioned.
Second, not the entire world is the US or act like it.
And last, you automatically labeling me in your head due to one disagreement online, shows how flawed your thought process is.
ATastyCorpsesicle
A bear will try to kill you. Some random dude might pretend to be a civilized person first, to make killing you easier.
Avlaen
i mean, its unlikely the bear will even attack you, unless your near its terrirtory or it has cubs it will probably just leave you alone.
SneakyGaryTheSerialHorseDrowner
It's not even certain the bear will try to kill you.
itsamyazing
Yeah, the bear will usually run away unless it's starving
or feels threatened or something.
onlyhalfghost
as someone who has lived in the deep woods near bears, the bear seems okay; as long as I mind my business, it probably will too
Mec26
The bear lives there. It’s just going about its life. Probably mittering to itself about how much kids eat these days and how clearly it didn’t make its mother go out for food nearly this often.
MatrimBloodyCauthon
This makes me sad. As someone with social anxiety. I don't want to accidently make anyone uncomfortable.
Spidermonkey969696
I think it's harder to do by accident than you think so long as you have decent morals, which based on your comment you do. Good people put out green flags as much as bad ones wave red ones. If you're the type to change your walking speed because you don't want to seem like your creepily following a person at night, most people will pick up on the green flags.
MatrimBloodyCauthon
Oh. Good! :)

1)I hate that I know I've freaked women out just by existing. More than a few see a big dude with a beard and shaved head and cross the

I’m unfamiliar with “choose the bear”, what does it mean?
ChloeRed
You are in the woods, there's a man and a bear, which do you choose to go towards?

SjyiN
Euhm a man pls. Bear wont eat my ass out like a burito
SneakyGaryTheSerialHorseDrowner
I thoroughly respect how you prioritise things.
armstrongdavidmorgan360
And what you fail to realize is that a bear is easy to control. There are a billion ways to avoid the very single mindedness of a bear. The bear won't hide it's intentions, and when convinced to leave, it actually leaves. Bear attacks are rare. Yet every woman has a story about a man assaulting them in some way. Men veil themselves in civility until it's advantageous for them to do things even bears will never do. My 4th grade daughter already has personal experience with this from a classmate.
SjyiN
???? Read what u wrote again? What do u mean a bear is easy to control?
eromitlab
I've been saying that women ought to start shooting back when sexual assault enablers threaten their life or safety. I just want them to know that I mean it. A few more pistol-packing mamas might make them think twice before they think of sexual assault as a joke.
eodtalley
Was that also a Fallout reference?
zian6412
It was a battle of villas boutage reference.
eggmuffin
You know what happened the people of majority black communities tried to make it more common for them to carry weapons, in an effort to discourage the violence and persecution they faced?
They didn't become smaller targets.
The Klansmen who lynch them do so because they're fragile and scared and need to establish dominance. So armed black people are BIGGER targets. The guns made them even more vulnerable, even more exposed.
And the law sure as shit wouldn't protect them if they used those guns.
ChuckleVoodooist
And that's what we're terrified of as Black Women. How are we to protect ourselves. We already have a double target on our heads and the thought of arming ourself is hard to think of for a lot of us, especially those of us in red states.
Concealed carry seems like a quick way to get shot by the police when they ask if you are armed. It's really a rock and a hard place kinda moment.
Blackadam7
Learn self defense. Learn to kick, punching, throw and lock. Learn some knife skills. Learn to study your surroundings. Learn the mindset to fight. I keep seeing "get a gun", and they are effective, but they are not the end all be all of self defense.
In a SA situation, they got close and have hands on you. You need to get those hands off by any means possible. The idea isn't to kill, but get away. I want to try and come up with a pamphlet or instructional to help, but I need to think straight.
IconicM
catsnroombas
Now this is helpful, thank you. I had a long, involved conversation with my husband about arming ourselves and I came to the conclusion that I just can't do it. Not to defend myself, not to defend the people I love. I just can't take a life, not under any circumstance. I'll have to find another way to contribute.
worm61
Unfortunately, that can be a dangerous suggestion. When women attempt to defend themselves with guns, more often than not those guns are turned against them.
DomeGuy
The only thing I could find supporting that assertion was a meta-study behind a paywall. I do not mean to suggest that it's not dangerous to own a gun -- but if you do have one for self-defense, please realize that it's of NO use until you pull the trigger.
eggmuffin
I am a cirrhotic, bible-thumping redneck with a chip on my shoulder and a fearful, hateful view of [insert minority], including you. If I have a gun and you do not, then I will not have to shoot you to bully you and push you around. I feel powerful, strong, safe.
But if we both do, then you are no longer just a victim, now you're a threat. If I bully you and push you around, you may shoot me. I feel scared and vulnerable. My impulse is to reclaim my position of power by removing you from yours.
DomeGuy
That's using a gun as a safety blanket, not a self-defense tool. Or, it's a great example of why just having a gun isn't ever enough. You need to be willing to use it, and have others who will support you when you do. Otherwise, it's just an expensive cosplay piece.
eggmuffin
I believe that there has never been a period in human history in which the widespread carrying of weapons in public resulted in fewer dead people.
RenegadeSci
Warning shots by women end up with "unlawful discharge" charges. Just insane. Stand your ground only counts if you hit your target, and kill them dead.
Troyificus
Hey, the MAGA fucks hold the 2nd Amendment above women's rights. Time for women to use that against them.
OlofBorrbrottsson
blainetog
No, they hold *their* 2nd amendment rights over women's rights. If liberal women started carrying guns en masse, they'd change their tune very quickly.
billstranger
"Organized militia. Women weren't allowed to serve in the military or militia when the constitution was written/amended, therefore the right to bear arms was never intended to apply to women." There you go. I am a supreme court prophet. Remember my prescience.

I've alienated more than one of my fellow lefties by being a strong advocate for armed self-defense. But some of them are starting to come around.
anoldiebutagoodie
What's crazy is that it's natural for an American to immediately to to guns for their solution. Like, is there anywhere else in the world where thus happens?
eggmuffin
Somalia comes to mind.
eggmuffin
It doesn't require a particularly keen intellect to conclude that, more often than not, guns make things worse. Just an honest bit of introspection.
As a human being, I can imagine a scenario and place myself in it. As a human being, I can experience a decent approximation of the emotions that I would feel in that scenario. My imagination can trigger some of the same instincts and impulses as real experiences.
And I find that a gun makes me nervous, even when it's aimed at my enemy.
eggmuffin
I remember thinking to myself, during my army service, that the fact that I was surrounded by guns wasn't on my mind at all. But then, when I started thinking about it, I realized that wasn't true.
I wasn't thinking about the guns, no. But there was a part of that hot-rodded monkey-brain we humans have stuffed into our skulls that was *aware* of the guns. Always aware. In hindsight, it was like the little plastic safety lid covering the fight or flight buttons was lifted, if that makes sense.
eggmuffin
And this was in the de-facto Kingdom Of Safe And Responsible Gun Owners. The 2A-clowns' wet dream. A society where everyone is armed and everyone treats that as a solemn responsibility.
And still, those guns register as threats. They still make people jumper than they would have been in their absence.
peteblaxmith
it's actually the way the world works ever since the invention of the 6 shot revolver. Violence or the threat of violence has always been the ultimate political tool. without it, we wouldnt have countries or laws or "justice systems".
eggmuffin
Just about every single human being that has existed for the last 80 000 years has had a knife or similar implement with them everywhere they went.
And in terms of weapons intended to kill other humans, serving little to no other purpose, the spear has shed more blood than any other weapon.
So what kind of distinction are you drawing with the six-shot revolver? From where I'm sitting, it doesn't look like it made much of a difference in "the way the world works."
peteblaxmith
sorry i just saw this. youre absolutely right, it isnt fundamentally different than using different weapons. i just meant to point out that every country uses guns for their armed forces ever since they've been reliable enough to use regularly and easily.
anoldiebutagoodie
Can't say I've ever seen someone in Australia go buy a gun because they felt threatened by a person or the government......
Nofoxlefttogive
I think it would happen anywhere that they are available, when a party comes into power that is threatening people's existence. I am 61, and have never owned a gun, but am considering it now, because people are going to need protection, and our police force cannot be trusted.
anoldiebutagoodie
Yes. I can see your point. I am so sorry it has come to this in what is supposed to be the land of the free. As an Australian with adult children, my heart is breaking for the future
Nofoxlefttogive
Mine too, my country has been taken over by violent grifters. We seem to be exporting them, so keep an eye out.
