The first Hammer horror film I ever saw, so this one holds a special place in my love of the studio and the sci-fi/horror genres.
A British rocket scientist (Andrew Keir replacing Brian Donlevy from the previous films) investigates an "unexploded German bomb" found during construction of the London Underground. Right beside a pack of million year old skeletons.
But Quatermass, with the help of two archaelogists (James Donald and Barbara Shelley), discovers that this mysterious object is not only just as old as the fossilized remains... but is the last remnant of Mars. And part of a nefarious ancient plot to invade their world.
Barbara Shelley's also my favorite of the Hammer scream queens. Shame she was only in a few of them (this, DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS, RASPUTIN THE MAD MONK)

I've never seen the film, but I've seen some of the show from the late 50s. Pretty scary stuff for the time, and definitely a big influence on Dr. Who. Very nice pick, OP! I really should get around to watching this.

It's cheesy fun, until the giant floating face at the end is possibly the creepiest goddam thing I have ever seen in a movie.
