Honestly, why should we anymore when we clearly have little Independence or Freedom?

The US declared independence from the British Empire to avoid taxes. Shall we argue who got the better (better, not best or perfect) side of the deal? (I don't want to argue) https://media1.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1aGhwdDI2Ynd4bTBtYnk1MjNhcHp4bTV6Yzd1emFlaHFnZHVyYTU4ciZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/n40PbEHU81G4E/200w.webp

But I still wish all poor, old, or ill Americans a happy "4th of You'll die".

Dude I haven't celebrated since bush but yeah man. Fuck this place.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The 4th of July was the day back in 1776 where we broke ties with the king of Britain. Now, we are subject to a wanna-be king. We are not free.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm not wishing a happy 4th tihs year after what just happened today. Today's news mark the complete oposite of Independence.

Make yourself heard, as the founding fathers would have wanted it.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Well, maybe celebrate Bastille Day instead, given its general theme of overthrowing despotic kings. And the release of political prisoners.

1 year ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 2

Can play the excellent song by RUSH to celebrate, a band from the country that burned the White House down once before.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Over a dozen cities in the US celebrate Bastille Day.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

See already got some places to go visit for it.

Slogan: We have guillotines!

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Problem is, guillotines won't solve the problem in the modern age. They worked great when the wealthy had their money locally, now it's all offshore.
So the only real way to fix things is to get decent people into government and do a lot of reforms to everything.

My neighborhood is already setting off fireworks.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I haven’t decorated after 2016, I wasn’t going to go to the parade but 2 of my kids are really excited for it. My oldest won’t go because she’s terrified of random crowds after Covid, fuck this timeline

A birthday party for a kidnap victim?

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

What kidnap victim? You* wanted this! And yes, even if you* couldn't be bothered to vote or are too stupid to understand what *this* was, it still counts; that's how democracy works.
*you here is used as the second person plural, as in "the eligible voters from USA". In case you want to chime in with "But i didn't", pretending you don't understand what i'm talking about.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The "you wanted this" is revisionist. "But that's what he said" Is tailored to suit. Knock yourself out.

It's neither the land of the free nor the home of the brave.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Well considering our incarceration rate we shouldn’t have been celebrating it for a while

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I did nothing for the fourth but, in my heart, I celebrate the ideals this country was founded on, even though we’ve never reached those ideals. I still hope we will someday.

America is dead unless we can take it back before they feel comfortable enough to pull the mask off.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Is the mask even still on?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes. That's the part that should scare you. When they start calling it the Empire of America, and Fuhrer Trump, it's over. No hope. Allahu Ackbar your nearest red hat I guess.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm making poutine and hiding in my basement with puppies!

Can we join you?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm ready. It's the First Annual No Kings Day holiday.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Find your local protest and make some noise. Search 50501

1 year ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 4

We are beyond protests now. ICE just got infinite funding and they have been violating the constitution. Its pretty much over at this point. This bill gave tRump more power.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

50501 is run by pro zionist democrat staffers who advocate working with police. Fuck em. Rally and work with local community members

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Don't forget violence. Peaceful protests have never worked. You need to mix violence in to the resistence. If you need to check notes on history see:

The French resistence
The civil rights movement
Women's suffrage
The revolutionary war

1 year ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

The 50501 movement has been coopted by private interests and the original founder(s) pushed out. That's why you don't see them here any more. Try >indivisible.org instead. /gallery/what-looks-like-when-self-interest-steals-online-movement-i-first-posted-this-16-days-ago-URyZpGl

1 year ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

So how's that been working out?

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 23

Better than whatever nothing you're doing, dumbass

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Finding like-minded people among your community is at the very least better for morale than not.

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 4

This is exactly the reason. The huge numbers at the No Kings protests, especially ones near me helped me feel a lot more confident about doing something. The fact we're clearly a big enough group means that when things happen, we won't have to hide away and worry about being outnumbered.

1 year ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

I sure as fuck and not celebrating.

Because if you know history, July is a holidaybthat crlebtrates thevr8ght of people tonrebel against injustice. You shouldn't just celebrate it, you celebrate it hard. READ the Declaration of Independence. It's an instruction book on overthrowing tyrants.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I will do my part in calling out 4th of July posts on this site. You don't get to celebrate liberation from a tyrant after handing a convicted felon tyrant the keys to your country which he uses to free insurrectionist pedos from prison with a pardon while rounding innocent people up and jamming them into concentration camps while they joke about killing said people and feeding them to alligators. I will ravage that rampant hypocrisy like Trump is ravaging your country.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

US celebration of fighting against tyranny has always been hypocritical. George Washington himself led the campaigns against native Americans, calling them savages. Black people were oppressed under US tyranny until quite recently with the civil rights movement and even then they were still under oppressive rule with disproportionate applications of the law. South America has been plagued by us backed dictators being installed in place of their democratically elected rulers. Was there a moment/

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

In time where US wasn’t pushing tyranny on those weaker than it? If it’s independence from the British being celebrated, then fair enough. If they’re talking about ending tyranny and bringing liberty then they’re delusional as US has never been the force for that.

Personally I wasn't going to this year, or most recent years. Gonna get a frozen pizza and enjoy a nice night in while I apply for teaching jobs abroad

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Portugal is currently having a shortage in teachers due to a retirement wave. A lot of teachers reached their retirement year last year. You would be more than welcome here. At least by me!

America is canceled

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I'm tired of the people with the least amount of American values having the most national pride and patriotism.

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

yeah but they wrap themselves in flags and wear LOTS of red white and blue stuff, so clearly they're the biggest patriots of all /s

Remember, remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot, not the 4th of July where's there's no reason and aught.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The 5th is just a celebration of the government crushing a rebel and convincing the people to burn an effigy of him each year. Catholics were persecuted horribly by the King James I. Guy fawkes might’ve wanted to bring in a catholic theocracy but that doesn’t undermine the fact that bonfire night is a celebration of the government crushing resistance against religious oppression. Note that Britain wasn’t very far from a Protestant theocracy at the time. The clergy didn’t run the UK but there was/

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No separation between religion and state. The head of the country was the head of the church. Religious doctrine heavily shaped the laws and governance of the country. Catholic priests were killed for preaching, attending mass was seen as treasonous. There’s more religious freedom in theocratic Iran right now, than there was in the non-theocratic king James I’s England.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah, fuck the 5th that was an insane theocrat.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A theocrat bombing parliament in response to the extremely heavy religious persecution by an effectively theocratic government. 5th November just celebrates government crushing of dissent and the enforcement of religious persecution

I couldn't agree more - however, I'm going to go to the city's largest gathering in my full and modified-for-combat Captain America uniform on purpose to help protect anyone who might find themselves in the sights of ICE while there.

I encourage everyone get out there. The more people there are, who are willing to stand up against injustice, the better and safer for everyone.

Isn't he Captain Puerto Rico?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've thought about that, but leaning more Punisher than Cap.
