I visited Manhattan about 25 years ago when I was a pre-teen with my mom and my aunt. We did some shopping and my aunt bought these $500 sunglasses at Macy's. We took a cab to check out battery park and have lunch at the twin towers. My aunt left her glasses at the restaurant. Now my mom and I like to walk alot so we were atleast 6 blocks deep before she realized it. She threw a fit, we ditched her and walked all the way back to our hotel at the Waldorf.

Long story short, I learned alot about my mom and aunt that day. And my aunt is a fucking idiot with no sense of adventure or responsibility. I had a few interactions with her after that and before my grandmother died. All were bad. And now, whenever I think about the twin towers, I think about those fucking stupid sunglasses and how there were the beginning of the end on my mother's relationship with her sister.

When I first moved to nyc 12 years ago, I lived at the bottom of this map, in battery park. After to years, I was at a homeless shelter in Hell’s Kitchen. The center of that map! After getting back on my feet, I’m in Spanish Harlem. At the top of the map. Whole time, I worked in Brooklyn. Not on that map. I love this city.
