Kids, like all things, have their places. Ideally nowhere near me. If, for some reason I have to interact with a kid, I flick that "Customer Service" voice on, and try like the blazes to get it over with as quickly as possible.

I made the mistake of going into the r/dogfree dumpster one time and it bummed me out for like 2 days. They were like having circle jerks sharing local news stories about kids getting attacked by dogs...

I believe firmly there should be a separate airline for children under twelve. It would make it so much nicer for everyone else, and I think it would make the parents seriously reconsider if they really need to take their newborn on an airplane to go somewhere

I like kids okay. LOVE my nephews and my cousin's daughter is the cutest little thing on two chunky little legs, but when I've had enough of children I've had ENOUGH and will politely yet firmly leave the area if I'm able to. I have NO desire to be a mother. An aunt? Yes. Mom? Nope.

I ain't reading all that but there's a difference between preferring to remain child-free, and hating children. And it is in fact possible to be a terrible person who happens to genuinely like kids.
I'm happily child-free and always will be, but I don't hate children or judge people who choose to be parents. What irritates me (and probably the folk on that sub) is when people treat me like a lunatic for not wanting kids.

Agreed. I opted out of having kids of my own, but I still like my friends' kids.
I have my reasons, and hate is not one of them.

Hate is a strong word, but for me 98% of kids are extremely obnoxious. They grate on my nerves and I find it difficult to enjoy myself when there are rambunctious kids around. But I'm still their ally and a safe person if they need one, I don't wish harm on them. Being rambunctious is part of being a kid, I don't hold it against them. I'm the one with the issue, so I'll remove myself if I need to.

I'm much the same with dogs as well. Whilst I could never be cruel to one, and I enjoy a well behaved, disciplined animal - they're just too needy for my liking or for me to ever own one myself. I'm obviously a heartless, soulless individual

This. I love dogs, I want as many dogs near me as possible at any given moment. But it's okay for others to not be into them. I fully understand how they can be extremely overwhelming. That doesn't mean you're evil. I feel the way about Kids the way you do about Dogs.

That along with the weird pressure and annoying comments people make. My favorites are "You'll change your mind when you meet the right person," and "You'll see when you get pregnant." First of all, the right person is on the same page in this matter; second, I guess you'll see bitch, bc I'm not having kids, end of story.

Highest irritation, when people try to tell me what I'm about. It's so condescending. Like when I complain about hot weather (I live in Florida) and say I wanna move where it's cold people say "Oh you'll miss the heat! You won't like the cold!" Bishhh I'm me. I like being cold. If you hate the cold, that's you. Don't tell me about me.

Maybe cut back on your internet usage, or at least try not to be an outrage junkie and deliberately go looking for thing to get mad about.

I think the question was why someone who seems to not like to have kids around them has a job where there are a lot of kids around them. That's like setting themselves up for bad interactions with what they don't like, when they could have chosen a similar profession where there are less kids.

Not liking kids is the least of r/childfree's problems. I am autistic and I dont want Kids( partially due to sensory issues) . I used to b e a member of that sub but was eventually turned off by the sub's classism, misogyny , ableism and eugenics . I’m gonna go full SJW here but whatever:
The classism. They hate poor people and don’t want them to have children even if they really want to from the bottom of their hearts.

Overpopulation theory and racism. Firstly, I feel like r/childfree would go ballistic if I said that 70% of the world’s emissions were by corporations and billionaires. Secondly, most families who have lots of children are families of color, especially those in the third wrld. The ableism.More eugenicist politics, trying to breed out illnesses and syndromes out of the gene pool, because they’re undesirable. if other autistic people want to be parents then let them. Same goes for other diseases.

The misogyny. I’m not saying that it’s misogynistic for a woman or feminine of centre person to not have kids - that’s patriarchal bullshit (see: Ohio and Alabama). But they body shame vagina owners, especially when it comes to such vaginas being made loose by baby. The dehumanisation of children and parents. Sure, children and parents can be annoying sometimes, but to call them names that are vulgar, dehumanising (crotch goblins) and sometimes even rooted in slavery (breeders) is vile.
