TLDR: I have some exciting news about my next Dungeons and Dragons album! I have 8 songs out of 10-12 done and Im almost ready to launch the Indiegogo campaign for physical copies of the album in August with full digital release in late November! Can you guess any of the realms I chose?

If you saw my post from about a week ago, I’d announced that I was going to be releasing “Echoes of the Forgotten Realms” as a follow up to “The Forgotten Realms” which I released in 2023 and I’ve already released a sneak peek of one song to my fan club on Bandcamp.
https://sursiemetzger.bandcamp.com/backstage
I had originally planned to release this about two years ago but it didn’t pan out. And now I have the 2 singles I’d previously released (EOTFR & Alone) plus 6 new songs that I’ve recorded so far with more to come! My aim is to have atleast 12 songs but no less than 10.
I plan to start an Indiegogo from August 1st-September 1st to help raise money for the CD printing and if we raise more than that, it will go towards an actual space to film music videos since I now live in a place where photography studios are an option.
I plan to order from CDBaby and they only do prints in sets of 100 minimum so I’ll have plenty for more in person events and to list in the merch store once the album is out.
Mostly, I really want to give people something physical they actually OWN and given all the major bullshit that’s been going down with Spotify, Sony, Rockstar etc I want to have this album made into physical copies people can hold and own and I’ll be sending them out along with a free copy of Moira of Arcadia. We are losing so much physical media to streaming and it’s more important than ever to make sure you can enjoy what you love incase it’s ever taken down.
The crowdfunding campaign will start out with only 1 option until certain stretch goals are met then other stuff will be unlocked. $30 flat for the preorder for those in the US, I am still getting an idea of what I should charge shipping wise outside of the US because it’s EXPENSIVE.
But this will get you the 2 CDs and digital access to the ENTIRE album one month early plus all the demos I have from recording which won’t be included on the full album release in November.

Im really excited for how this is turning out! Can you guess some of the realms I wrote songs about?

Our AC is broken and maintenance hasn’t shown up after 3 days. Casper is just as over it as I am. He either lays in the bedroom where it gets hotter than hell or the living room where it gets ALMOST as hot as hell.
We have the wall thermostat and another thermometer. Wall thermo maxed out and the other thermometer said 92.3 F…
Note just so I am not repeating myself: the thermostat controls the gas heat not the AC. we only have a window unit which has been no lower than 68F and that’s what’s broken likely due to being out of Freon. Maintenance here is just as slow as where I used to live and it’s just a waiting game now. The unit we have is about 10 years old and apparently the best guess my boyfriend has on when it was last touched or looked at was when a bird built a nest in it 3 years ago.. so who knows.

You have a crazy pretty smile, just realized I haven't really seen it as you've always been so focused on your music the times i've seen your posts.

Grateful you think so hun <3

No for real. Even then it doesn’t help! 💀 I’ve not slept good for shit. One night it was so hot I was having THE WEIRDEST nightmares.. made no sense at all but got they were terrifying. Woke up in two kinds of sweats that night 😂

valísimo!
Can you get a window unit so this doesn't happen again? 92 inside in unlivable!
SursieMetzger
We have a window unit and it’s been like 3 days since the maintenance ticket was submitted. The thing that gets me about these apartments, the actual building itself has no central heat or AC but the individual units do. And normally it’s just as hot outside in the hallway and in the main building as it is outside when you leave but no ITS COOLER… I’ve genuinely been tempted to just open our front door and let air come in. Privacy be damned at this point 💀

Depending on humidity levels, as long as It's not too high.
Then you can simply fill up some open containers with water and leave them in the room, the water will slowly pull heat from the air into itself, it will also slowly evaporate pulling more heat from the air.
It's how many ancient desert cultures used to cool their homes. Now a simple bowl will not work as effectively as the proper vessels made to do it, but it will still work to drop a few degrees of a rooms' temperature, which helps.
SursieMetzger
Yea we’ve been using those huge squishy ice packs you put on injuries etc in front of the fan. It works best at night but we sit 2 at a time in front of the fan and it helps cool off where we are sitting. I just wish we had a way to cool off the bedroom, even with the AC cool air doesn’t reach the room and that’s when things get super rough…
Targe0
Get some buckets and fill them with water.
Water is a huge thermal sync so will pull a lot of heat out of a room its in.
The larger the volume the better cooling effect it will have.
Ideally the traditional containers are made from porous clay, so that they absorb the water, and it seeps through the containers sides and acts as passive evaporative cooling.
With them, you can cool a room by around 5°-10°C. They have been used for around 2000 years to cool rooms.

I hope there are songs about Ravenloft and Planescape. If Casper is anything like my cat, he's basking in the warmth instead of miserable.
SursieMetzger
He’s not too miserable thankfully, or atleast he hasn’t let us know yet lol Over it? Yes absolutely. But luckily he can lay on the bathroom or kitchen tile etc and that’s way cooler for him and he’s just fine. We’ve been keeping his water changed out alot more so it doesn’t get too warm too.
Shifuede
That's good, especially having fresh water. Mine has shorter hair, so I think she enjoys the heat even more, contentedly lounging any time it's above 80.

How do folk afford harps? I want to get me one, but I can't even afford a used "cheap" one.
SursieMetzger
1/2: I was gifted my harps. My smaller harp was gifted to me by the builders for my birthday around a decade ago when I had thyroid cancer. My second was gifted to me by another harpist during the pandemic and my third was bought through crowdfunding. My advice to everyone is as follows: You can rent to own which pricing varies on your location and they’ll usually let you trade in for another model if the one you first chose isn’t right for you. You can also look into cardboard harps
SursieMetzger
Most places also offer financing and take monthly payments after so much down. Similar to paying off anything else.
SursieMetzger
2/2: The kits start at around $180 USD and prebuilt start at around $280. There’s Fireside Harps and Warping harps. They have between 19-22 strings and are great for beginners just looking to play around. Then there’s checking in on the Harpsicle website to see when they list discounted harps which can start at around $350-$400 and go up depending on the model for a harp that has minor stains or imperfections but are otherwise perfect.
RobertAG25772
Can you do the riff from Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog” on acoustic harp? (Yes, “Stairway To Heaven” would be better suited to it, but “Black Dog” seems more like a challenge.)
RobertAG25772
BTW, nice kitty cat! I have 2 myself—a grey girl & a tux boy
Phoenix0rion
Everyone said there's no way you could get hotter, so you broke your AC?
SursieMetzger
Lmao well it wasn’t my intention buuuut at this point Im a puddle. All jokes aside, I think it’s out of Freon, I don’t know how old this unit is or when it was last looked at either. Now it’s been a waiting game since filling out the maintenance request 🙄 It’s not my first go around with a broken AC but it never gets easier that’s for sure.
Phoenix0rion
Oh thats rough. Think the longest I went without AC in a home was 2 weeks, and here in FL, its miserable. Lost our washer and dryer last year, its always gotta be something lol. Good luck to you!
wowfan85
As a maintenance technician myself, I see this almost universally. Lowering the temp on the thermostat does not make the AC blow colder, AC's only have one temp setting, on or off. Lowering the thermostat just sets when the AC can turn off and if you set it below the temps it is able to reach in the current heat, it will just never turn off and damage itself. Please, for the love of god stop doing this. We know it's hot, but we're exhausted from fixing these all day for the past two months.
SursieMetzger
So for some clarity, The thermostat pictured doesn’t control the AC only the heat. What’s broken is the window unit which we’ve had set at 68F and as I’ve mentioned to others, it’s likely due to being out of Freon. I don’t know the last time this unit even had maintenance done because nothing is routine here and if something breaks, like most places you’re just stuck waiting until they show up.
wowfan85
Sorry to vent, I just have to explain how setting the thermostat so low will actually make things worse so often. It's literally the cause of 70% of my work load right now.
SursieMetzger
Yea unfortunately the thermostat has nothing to do with the air. I WISH to god this place had HVAC but it doesn’t and I don’t know how they’ve gotten by without it code wise. In the winter it’s just as cold in the hallways and main buildings as it is outside and it’s usually just as hot as it is outside but since the window unit took a crap (apparently last time it was looked at by anyone was 3 years ago and a bird had built a nest in it) it’s been cooler outside of the apartment than in it.
SursieMetzger
But like this place would fail for all kinds of code violations so and having no updated HVAC system is probably the bottom rung of their problems.
DJOldguy
Place a bowl of water in front of a working fan, that will help if humidity levels are not high. Minimal clothing and plenty of fluids, otherwise. Stay cool, gorgeous girl.
SursieMetzger
We’ve been doing that. Also reusable ice packs, once the sun goes having 2 large ones near a fan helps cool it off enough in the living room to make it tolerable.
DJOldguy
Yep, that was a trick I learned while in Australia, it gets seriously hot there...
SursieMetzger
Oh god I couldn’t even imagine.
DJOldguy
Believe me, coming from the PNW, it was a huge shock for us too. But, when we came back the cold was also a huge shock, just not used to it. I think the kids felt it most, but they really missed the beaches, just as they missed the snow when we first got there. They adapted.
SursieMetzger
Yea when we went to Myrtle Beach in SC and when we entered a certain part as we approached the sea side, we hit THE LARGEST WALL OF HEAT I’ve ever felt in my entire life. Like you physically felt it immediately like you’d entered a portal of humidity and everyone in the car audibly went “OH MY GOD!”
