Also having a collar shows that it is someone’s pet. I know some hunters are pieces of shit but I was raised hunting in an area with a collared deer and was taught you never shoot a deer with a collar cause that’s someone’s pet aka family member.
They're everywhere. How does one NOT? You want a deer? I could find you half a dozen near my house ~right now~ -- the fuckers jump the fence and get in my garden nearly every night.
We just recently had an abandoned fawn in our yard. After a couple days it was apparent the mother wasn't coming back (there was a dead doe up the road; probably her) and he was getting weak and skinny. We debated trying to keep him, but were afraid we'd accidentally end up killing him through ignorance. And it turns out you need a permit to keep a fawn in PA. Fortunately, we were able to take him to a wildlife rescue. It was an experience having a baby deer in the car lol.
That's good to know! We are also in PA (SWPA), and momma deer and their fawns commonly frequent our yard here where we're at in the countryside. We just moved here and I'm still learning where the wildlife rescues are located.
My aunt was a wildlife vet when I was a kid, and she had permits to keep certain wild animals that couldn't be rereleased, so I remember her having a deer one time, and some raccoons now and then, and opossums and a skunk and squirrels...

One of these things, is not like the other...

Isn't this forbidden due to being a wild animal, or am I crossing my wires?
mrsdowneyjr
Depends on where you are and if you have a permit
swedeonamoose
Meanwhile a deer cant get whitin 5 miles of my dogs whitout them deciding to let the entire fucking county know.
DragonThunderUndertaking
Seems like a unrealistic complaint for all the free security you're getting.

Lots of mammals are licking faces as a sign of friendship too bad it's frowned upon amongst humans.

Right in the kidney!

I love that the deer has a Tractive GPS collar. No wandering off and getting lost for this deer girl.

Just build a higher fence behind that one /s

If you live in a place with deer they are everywhere.
ThisOldCPU
Live in an area where deer live. They'll find you, your garden, your bumper, hood, windshield, etc.
TungstenOrbital
I meant adopt one lol
ThisOldCPU
Adopt the nearby babies after mama found your bumper, windshield, etc?
TungstenOrbital
Suprise adoption

I wonder how animals really feel about this stuff. Surely they know they are different.
Jenvas
We are all just creatures, you know man?
TheBigBadBonerBiter
You and me, baby, we're nothing but mammals.
Thorketil
Well, in this case, it's simply about feeling at home.
