Yes, I too believe that the personal touch of an artist who has refined their skills over years of practice and applied that with love and care to their work on their pets resonates with some people.
This is also where I see hope as a traditional artist against AI art. I feel that Ai generated art will simply not be able to replicate the connection, warmth, and authenticity that an artist would bring. Unless we reach a time, where real connection isn’t valued anymore. 😅

It's really interesting to me that the face is almost completely done, but nothing else is more than vaguely outlined. Is that how you typically do it? Is that how everyone typically does this kind of drawing? I don't draw at all, so I'm just curious! It's a very well done drawing!

With realism and hyperrealism, artists typically work from a photo reference, which makes it possible to focus on one area and fully develop it before moving on to another. I use this approach because it makes my process videos more engaging for my audience to watch.
However, when I’m teaching, I prefer to lay down base layers across the entire subject first and then build up all areas gradually and simultaneously. When drawing from life or imagination, that’s the general approach.

I’ve picked up art again after a long time. Pencil seems to be what I m best at. I just tried ink s that one scared me . Not much room for error. I lost do leather crafting. Hand bags, wallets, glasses cases etc. I am trying to 100 things and see what sticks.

It’s wonderful that you’ve returned to art! Graphite is such a fantastic medium. I used to work mostly with charcoal for a long time, and it’s amazing how satisfying working in monochrome can be. I work with watercolors, which can be pretty unforgiving too, so I totally get what you mean about ink.
And wow, it sounds like you’re doing so much with leather!
