and she succeeded

She’s where she is because she’s the top fund raiser in the party. Tells you what they value.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Another corporate shill working for republicans inside the dem party.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They did the same to Bernie

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

She sold her soul a long time ago. A congresswoman worth 240 million dollars is a bit of a red flag. There are a lot of red flags in congress of course.

2 years ago | Likes 472 Dislikes 3

Any one of them is a red flag to anyone, for some reason or another, depending on who you ask. So, all of them are red flags.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Jesus, get this ghoul out of office and into a retirement home. Nobody wants her anymore.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This is why every governmental position needs term limits.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Absolutely not. A.O.C. gets the boot because of an arbitrary number? Politics becomes a mill of junior congresspeople? It's terrible that this is wanted by people on both sides. Removing money from politics is the answer, not capping good people from doing their jobs just to get someone else out.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

DNC leadership see's more in common with trump then people like AOC

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Insider trading, for which Pelosi is the absolute queen of, is about the only BoTh SiDeS issues that is real nowadays. AOC is very much against such and Pelosi doesn't like AOC for it.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Anyone who paid attention to "the squad" over the years saw this coming. Let's not pretend to be shocked by this.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Centrists also warry of the left, nothing new here.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It is the same thing they did with Bernie, right? Pushed their only chances of success down because of their idealism.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Pelosi and Schumer both need to go.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

They're genuinely not doing anything wrong at all. Both are good, effective Dems. AOC does not have some god given right to Oversight chair over a guy who has worked in that committee for 16 years.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

It could be argued that if he's been doing it for 16 years and we are currently in an undesirable position, that by itself would suggest that change could be beneficial.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm a Dem but fuck Pelosi. AOC is the future, embrace it or move out of the way. We need change and you stale ass drms have done nothing but drag your feet. Look at the shitstorm we are in now. It's your fault.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Dems aren't dragging their feet, you guys just never vote for them enough to give them power to do more. They support ALL KINDS of great legislation, but they need more votes to do it. You guys are actually the main problem, always shitting on Dems ignorant and pushing lies about them not caring about the working class, and then being surprised when people dont want to vote for them. You're the main issue holding back the progress you want.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

(standing in front of a mirror) LUIGI..... LUIGI...... LUIGI

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

So you want Pelosi to be murdered simply cuz she preferred the more experienced committee member? Some of y'all are just disgusting, awful people. I call myself progressive, but people like you are why I absolutely do not consider myself a part of the online progressive movement.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Nobody cares buddy, take your high horse somewhere else.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So y'all really aren't any different from Trump supporters at this point. What the fuck is wrong with y'all? I dont consider myself to be some amazingly righteous person, but jesus christ you guys are LOW.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

ok.... go preach somewhere else... maybe go see the world and see how it really is... travel

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm a fucking dual US/UK citizen living in London and I travel quite regularly. Massive swing and a miss there buddy. I shouldn't have to 'preach' that you shouldn't call for people to get murdered simply cuz of some minor Congressional shuffling. But I see you're the typical person who wants to preach to me about what I need to do, but of course I'm not allowed to preach to you about anything. Again, much like Trump supporters.

I'd prefer a grave, but whatever works.

Y'all really are complete scumbags.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

She's gonna end up being wheeled around congress like Feinstein.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Isn't this her last term? I thought she was retiring?

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Not soon enough. Her and mitch are going to shambles off into the sunset trying not to stumble and hurt themselves.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Well Mitch just has to make it until Friday.

I guess I was misremembering that she is "retiring" from being the Dem leader in the House. She just got re-elected for another term. Ugh. She might not officially be the leader anymore, but she will definitely have her hooks in the right places to manipulate things.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That broken hip was her sign from the universe

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

That's been a long running problem with the DNC, party bosses pick candidates and not the voters.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

That's not how any of this works. The DNC has no influence in this case. The only voters in this case are the representatives in Congress--not the people. Do you want to discuss this case (which you clearly don't understand) or do you just want to slam the DNC in general?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Given Pelosi's seat was handed to her by the person she replaced, yeah, she's a huge part of the problem.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I had been afraid that the Dems would learn the wrong lessons from a Harris victory, but it turns out they've learned the wrong lesson from a Harris defeat.

2 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

There's a quote about the bourbon monarchy in France, goes something like "They learned nothing and forgave nothing." The parallels are depressing.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Fucking Pelosi again. Can't possibly let the next generation have a sniff at power, got to cling on desperately until the day you die.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

She’s still mad at AOC for trying to ban insider stock trading

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Insider trading is already illegal. And not anything Pelosi is guilty of(her stock performance is literally no better than average).

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

should really google pelosi insider trading as theres plenty of "sus" timings on her/her husband making profit by selling right before soemthign bad happened to said stock...

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

"Do your own research!" Yes, I can Google almost anything and find 'sources' confirming what I want to believe. You can believe suspect timing or whatever of her husband's trades, but the reality is that she did not get rich through insider trading and their portfolio has tracked basically dead on average. Nothing special about it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Also, plenty of people paying attention can sell before 'something bad happens' to a stock. And smart, successful people are simply more likely to be paying attention to these things in the first place. There's nothing unusual about that. Though of course I know almost none of you have investments so know nothing about this world, either.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Her husband has impeccable timing on his trades, js

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Well, it looks like that may happen anyhow: https://www.npr.org/2024/07/10/g-s1-8989/bipartisan-stock-trading-ban

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Should have sent her to a horse doctor for the broken hip.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It's important that we all remember that neither political party is on "our side." I am not saying they are equal in villainy, but neither cares about us. They both say whatever they think will keep them in power. We need a real social movement to protect the American worker. The DNC is a neo-liberal political party. They want to maximize the exploration of our labor for maximum profit just like the GOP.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Ah right. Imgur is now devolving right back to the 'both sides are the same' nonsense from before. This idea that Democrats dont care about us and aren't worth voting for, even though they support SO MUCH to help the working class. You're either a completely ignorant moron, or you're straight up pushing dishonest lies to turn people off voting for Dems to help Republicans. Pick one, cuz those are the only options available.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Malcolm X gave the Wolf and the Fox analogy. Conservatives will snarl so you know where they stand, like a wolf. Liberals will be craftier, and sometimes pretend to be your friend. Obviously this was in the context of black liberation, but it's true in this context as well.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In a 2 party system you need to accept the fact that neither party has your best interests at heart. Each party only values its own & they do the bare minimum to get you to vote em even if it never benefits you.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep Both major parties in the US are right of center. Our extreme leftists are considered moderate centrists in most other countries.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

thats funny bit as in past our parties were actually flipped....R's use to be more like modern L's while past L's were like modern R's.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah the 1934 party flip, but back then both parties were a arguably further left than they are now.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

It is our job to scrutinize all of them without exception. And to check sources no matter the topic or side.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That describes a lot of the Dems these days, it's why they're loosing touch with their base.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Pelosi isn't wrong. AOC stating “Defunding police means defunding police” in 2020 is STILL politically TOXIC for all DEMs. It might work in her district, but outside of there, it hurts DEM candidates even when they don't support it. Also being a part of "the squad" hurts AOC significantly outside of her progressive-bubble. GOP will make her the poster-child of the entire DEM party and 2026 will suck.

I used to ride this narrative, until I read up on her. But whatevs. She's not really this vampire limousine liberal hag she's made out to be, but that's just me.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

What's AOC have over Gerry Connolly? Connolly's progressive voting records pretty good and has sat several congressional committees. As well as not almost being ousted from his seat in the last election. And Pelosi has been backing him from the outset, weird twisting headline to argue support for a candidate.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

AOC isn't 74 and currently undergoing chemotherapy for throat cancer. A big part of the whole argument is "maybe these super old, mentally and physically questionable old guard should step aside for the younger generation of leaders". Even to the point of overt elder abuse to puppet them around for political purposes, like with Feinstein. People like Pelosi are intent on clinging to power and impeding any concept of progress until they keel over dead in their seats.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

So it's his age rather than his politics?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

It's both, and they're related. A huge problem in our party is that our leaders want to reward loyalty to the party leadership instead of doing what's best for the party's membership. We have very hidebound leaders who are too comfortable in their positions, and who are VERY willing for the party to suffer if it means maintaining their power in the party. The way nat'l pols rolled over behind closed doors and let Clinton have a functionally-uncontested primary in 2014 is a very damning example.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's not JUST that - she's also trying to preserve institutional party structures that put her in place. The Democratic Party is very top-down and patronage-based in how it doles out power within itself - it very much reflects its sleazy machine-politics history. Don't get me wrong, Dems govern far more democratically than the GOP, but handing out power w/in the party is a different story. Our leadership resent the idea of anyone but them choosing who runs our party - especially mere voters.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Blue Dog Democrat. They're so far right that 40ish years ago they'd be considered a "moderate Republican."

there are many Democrats who are only Democrats because they can't be Republicans...

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Some of y'all are truly no different than Trump supporters at this point, it's fucking crazy. Pelosi is a fucking lifelong, devoted Democrat. There's literally been nobody more committed to the Democrat party than her, and you calling her a damn DINO is beyond insane. You're all morons.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Please keep in mind, it’s already a dystopia. It’s no longer a political argument. A class war has been waged against Americans since 70s. Y’all fighting amongst yourselves. At their bidding. Clinton didn’t help. Obama will always inspire, but he was too pragmatic in office. And he was wrong about Hillary.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't consider myself a Democrat but there is no Progressive party and I want my vote to actually matter, soooooo Democrat is is.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

But you aren't helping Democrats win if you're just constantly shitting on them with a bunch of bullshit claims about them. You realize that, right? Just cuz YOU still vote for them doesn't mean you aren't helping convince plenty of others NOT to vote for them at the same time.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

what you've read in this particular thread is the absolute most I've ever shared with this site about my particular political leanings.
most of what I post is reply's showing support for Democrats in general as, as I've said before, there is no Progressive party and I'm getting fed up with an out of touch, entrenched, myopic Democratic party.
If AOC is the future that Pelosi is afraid of, then she's no better than Mitch McConnell and need to get the fuck out of the way.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

WHY???

2 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

Because the other guy has 16 years experience in that committee and is a good, competent guy. But you'll not see anybody on social media saying that because it goes against the narrative that Pelosi is just some evil villain trying to destroy the left. smh

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

She beholden to corporations and wall st. She’s very rich

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

She hates AOC. AOC beat the old fart that Pelosi wanted in primaries and got elected. Pelosi has hate AOC ever since. Also, Pelosi is going to hang on until she dies, like RBG did instead of bowing out when she's past her sell-by date.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

She's a corporate lackey. Granted she's not evil, but she is in their pockets. Last thing her backers want is someone who hasn't taken their money in a position of oversight.

Because Ms Ocasio Corte goes out of her way to piss of the leadership of the party. Duh?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Because AOC represents a uncertain quantity for the future, and the House is where all legislation inevitably passes through. As the fabric of the country alters from a true Legislative body into more of a theater production to cater to the whims of Dear Leader as in most autocratic societies, AOC has the popularity and intelligence to be a thorn in the side of that transition.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

$$$$$$$$$.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She's worth about 240 million. Progress will always be a problem for the established older Dems. They love the status quo. Look into her and Chuck's political history.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because she'd rather hold power than try to help the people.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

She pushed loads of great legislation through the House when Dems had power. You guys are just pushing out complete and total lies at this point. None of you pay attention to politics, you only see this sort of outrage-bait social media content and get all your views from that. It's pathetic.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

DNC leadership see's more in common with trump then people like AOC

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 3

Absolutely fucking absurd. You're all morons, and this kind of ignorant, dishonest Democrat bashing is why Republicans will always stay in power.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

The Democrats are the reason why Republicans will always stay in power. We've been staring this eventuality down since October 26, 2001 and there's been zero course correction by the Democrats on their messaging. Hillary Clinton was always the heir apparent and when she flamed out the Democrats just went into standby mode, since by that point the Donors controlled their opinions anyway.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

No I promise it's YOU GUYS. Nothing is a bigger hindrance to progress than people not voting for Dems and y'all are always the one who are always ignorantly shitting on them, helping propagate the idea they dont care and thus aren't worth voting for. Such claims are completely false, but you push them anyways. And Republicans thank you for your service.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I'm 41 years old. I've been voting Democrat in a Red State my entire goddamn life. The last Senate candidate that the Dems fielded here that had a ghost of a chance ended up being a Nazi Defense Attorney back when being associated with Nazis was career ending and then the dumb fuck decided his best move was to go on HANNITY before the election.

I shit on the Democrats because despite being far more than a fair weather follower, I vote consistently Blue and they've disappointed every time.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As with most fights for power in government: follow the money. I'm sure there are plenty of large donors who would rather not have to deal with AOC or her views on social progress.

2 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

Because she is a terrible person, lets not forget she voted against even hearing about insider trading again and again.

Because Democrats are institutionalized, establishment cowards who answer to the same money interests Republicans do at the end of the day. In some ways they're worse; their staggering devotion in the status-quo gives them a sense of entitlement. They think they can just point to that status-quo as a campaign tactic and people will just say "ah yes you are indeed 1% better than the alternative so I will vote for you" even as the entire world rejects this and flocks towards populist rhetoric.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

In what way does any of this have to do with monied interests? You guys dont even know who the other guy is, do you? You just automatically jump to the most absurd, ignorant judgements without any thought at all. You're all dumbass reactionaries.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Case in point, long before the Biden/Trump debate, they had internal polling that Trump was going to win with 400 electoral votes. It was staring them in the face that their messaging was failing catastrophically and they refused to believe it. They kept going with brilliant tactics like Biden tweeting "hey you should google Project 2025." Even when Harris took over, her campaign actively refused to differentiate her from Biden at all, because that would have been rude.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The DNC are plutocratic elitist neoliberals who view even anodyne left wing politicians with fear and suspicion. The reason they're seen as the better option than the GOP is because the GOP are proto fascists, not because the DNC are palatable on their own merits.

Downvoted but correct. Leftists want politicians to give them the world, and then they don’t bother to vote, or they vote for gimmick candidates that end up getting .8% of the vote. They’ll complain about the rigged system, and do nothing to change it - even when the occasional establishment Dem throws them a bone. Biden forgave almost $200,000,000,000 in student debts *after* SCOTUS ratfucked his plan and leftists crucified him for not being perfect.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 17

Anyone that has that as a reason either was using it as an excuse or want paying attention. It was obvious Trump lied about going to stand up for Gaza...

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Trump lied? He said in March he would "Finish the problem" in Gaza. I just assumed he meant he was going to go full genocide as quickly as possible. Not to mention Jared Kushner not so subtly talking a month before at Harvard about the killer real estate that would soon be available after they "removed" the palestinians.
