TLDR; Michigan republicans want to make it so parents can deny their kids life-saving medical care with no consequences for making their kids die long painful deaths. Not surprising coming from the party of "dead kids are the price we pay to have guns" but appalling nonetheless.
At least our governor will almost certainly veto it, but i doubt thisll be the last time they try. Remember this anytime someone says democrats are just as bad. Theyre shitty to be sure, but republicans are shittier still.
If youre in michigan, remembe the primaries are Aug 4th, but you can apply for an absentee ballot on basically any state website!

Children do not belong to their parents. Parents are stewards of future adults who must be protected from harm for the good of society.
While as stewards they absolutely have the right to instil the values, morals and religious beliefs they believe to be appropriate, they do not have the right to neglect kids.
It is good and appropriate for society to prevent harm to kids and anything undermining that is a bad law.

if there's a stipulation, it's to disallow that...
parents get to decide, unless it's trans related, then the only decision the parents get to decide is to withdraw love and care from the trans child. If that's not the choice they make THEN the state steps in and says it's abuse...
But if it's leukemia and the parents decide "hey, poison hemlock will cure it, according to my religious beliefs" then the kid had better take their poison hemlock... according to the state.

To be fair, I have to ignore my doctors regimen for my warfarin (blood thinner) for my mechanical aortic valve. Whenever I follow her advice my INR tests high (number that determines how thin your blood is. If it’s too high your brain can bleed and you die. If it’s too low a blood clot can form and you die). I follow my own regimen instead so I don’t die and it does nothing but piss my doctor off.

Getting to that magical INR of 4 is difficult. Such careful balance. I only ever had to hit 2, and that was annoying enough as is. I got reaaaaally good at splitting tiny pills into 1/4.

For me to be therapeutic I need to be between 2.5-3.5. I was always testing in the 4 or 5 range with her advice. I started doing it myself and I’ve been in between 2.5-3.5 for 4 months straight now.

What works works. I never stuck to a diet. The numbers were the same with or without green veggies, so ya, sorry, not weighing my broccoli.

Lols, I hear ya. I’m an alcoholic so it makes monitoring it super tricky. I have to do it for the rest of my life so I’ve developed my own thing over the last year and a half since I got the mechanical valve. I can literally feel if my INR is too high or low so I take my meds accordingly. 10 mg one day, 5 the next, 10, 5, 5 and repeat seems to do the trick. She wanted me to do just straight 10’s and I was always testing high. She’s also a pediatrician. I’m on Medicaid so that’s why she’s my doc
