When I was 14 I ran into the back of a parked car on my bike. I was reading a library book. The book fell down a storm drain. I had to find a pay phone to call my mom and explain the situation. She was still laughing when she showed up to trade info with the cars owner. She said the story was worth the 14.50 we owed the library. (Yes, I am old.)
According to the article (linked by @Hannah1986 ), the DeLorean was indeed broken down - and the cyclist was 82 years old. I'd guess it could be a case of "I've been riding here for 30 years, there never was a car standing there".
As a mountain biker. Pushing too hard for too long makes ya space out. Plenty of times I've not noticed someone in front of me until the last second. I ride an ebike now days and don't get nearly as exhausted and since then, not a single close call.
I was thinking something along these lines, because the biker didn't seem well at all. He just kind of leans into the crash and sloughs off the bike like he's not fully awake. Barely made any reactions to save himself.
I have had this problem all my life. I sometimes pay attention to too many things at once and miss whats right in front of me. I have run into multiple parked cars on my bicycle and is exactly the reason I have never gotten my drivers license. I do this for everyone elses safety.
Most modern browsers can translate it for you: “Safari on iPhone does offer to translate web pages. When you visit a webpage in a foreign language that Safari can translate, it automatically detects this. An icon will then appear in the address bar to indicate that a translation is available. To use it, you tap the aA icon on the left side of the address bar and then select the "Translate to [Your Language]" option from the menu that appears.” (source: AI)
Alas no, it seems to all be local French, but summation - 82 yr old cyclist crashes into back of broken-down DeLorean, and according to another source, the "cyclist into parked car" happens once a fornight in Vaud
Checking with a German friend, if it's parked "not in an emergency" you can get 3 points on your licence, but since it has hazards on, and the driver's door open, it's likely broken down.
german? nothing there looks like its germany, the direction signs are green instead of blue, we dont have yellow road markings normally, none of the number plates has the blue EU area and the number plate on that delorean definitely isnt a german one, even if they got an excemption for a shorter plate without the EU area...also parking on a restricted zone would be 25€, actually 35€ here because an accident happened...
The problem with Delorean is that he was a visionary in an era when automobiles were being "Value Engineered" to be cheap and make profits. He got shunted from literally every manufacturer until he decided fuck it and opened his own shop. Selling Cocaine and Crack worked to fund Reagan's war, so why not cars?
You would think so, but there is definitely an element of timing to it. In modern times the same thing happened and we got an obese delorean that can at least keep an explosion from leaving the interior but is otherwise a sometimes rolling joke of a refrigerator.

Bicyclist 100% blamed the car.

Whoa! A DeLorean.

Mighty expensive "how is that an accident" accident.

Jesus is the bike rider that unaware of his surroundings? Shouldn’t be on the road if that’s the case.

C'mon guys, it could have been worse. At least he wasn't going 88 mph or you would have seen some serious shit.

It's a Delorean, they weren't ok when they left the factory.

"Pro cyclists" are some of the most annoying people on the road. No, that does not mean that there aren't idiot drivers, settle down.

Would have been hilarious if he was 88 years old…

In his defense, probably never would have guessed a DeLorean would be there either.
Euchre
If the car hadn't been there, based on the way the curb is sweeping over, he probably would've rammed the curb just a few feet further along.

I think it's possible the cyclist was experiencing either road hypnosis, or having a medical emergency.
TheMayorOfTittyCity
What medical emergency makes it so you can ride a bike but can't see a car in front of you?

Probably shouldn't have been biking on a major road then eh?

You think a delorean door won't drop off at the slightest touch? You don't know those cars very well.

You know, the only door cooler than gull wing action are the kind that get blown off with explosive bolts. It's a space age upgrade!

I'm not sure what those markings are if it means no parking or something but damn that bicyclist has the situational awareness of a boiled potato.

He was 82 years old. Surely that contributed. His posture and reaction, though, makes me wonder if he wasn't already struggling beyond just being old.
