Finished this today, "Winter Embrace", Oils, 12"x12".

My first finished piece in while ?. It's been a long year. Finally some painting momentum again. Been thinking about themes and color palettes I'm naturally drawn to, this inspiration comes from the seasons turn. Hope you like it.

Im curious why it started out with such warm colours in the background. Did you change direction or is that a technique?

Hi so I actually started the entire thing with a palette knife and acrylic paint intending to make a summerish blazing painting of a city on fire basically, I went back after a while to the canvas and decided to completely change the mood and go for a winter calmer theme to portray love. What's cool is I created the actual piece with oils, so there are some very subtle areas where little red tint is visible

A lot of portraits are painted with a red or pink base cause it gives the skin a more alive tone when it's painted over
