When I was a kid, we were driving home from a church or school thing (on the same street) and lightning struck one of the high voltage towers ahead of us. Must've been 30 years ago now.
The "lightning" hits closer to the camera than the swimmer and has zero effect on the surroundings. I question if it is real, between that and the ludicrous one in a billion odds.
My Ford Orion got struck by lightning some years ago, specifically the roof rack, and it welded the bolts holding the rack in place. Stayed on for the next three years and was still there when i sold it.
I love how sometimes the lightning is just smacking a tree endlessly. Its like "god" saying I FUCKING HATE THIS THING THAT I DID THIIISSSSS MUCH AHHHHHH"
Just last week lightning hit the side of a hill on the neighboring property and traveled at least 30 meters through the ground, frying out the alarm on our septic tank system.
I’m 73 and I’ve had 5 near misses in my lifetime, one of which was inches away. It’s like I’m being aimed at. I go inside as fast as I can when there’s lightning around.
I used to live in a house with a transmission line tower about fifty metres away which often got struck by lightning, and a couple of times, I woke up in the middle of the night to what sounded like a bomb exploding right outside my window. I love lightning storms, but man, not like that..
Maybe this will get downvoted but I hated so, so much that they went with Led Zeppelin for Thor's big hero moment. I like them as much as the next guy, iconic Rock band definitely, but it was just a horrible choice. It's a great song, but it has no low end at all by modern standards and the emotional tone of it is completely wrong for the moment. What should have been a booming, explosive catharsis was just the lamest, cringiest scene. Awful. I could barely watch it.
Two days before watching this movie at the theater I was in the emergency room wiwth a kidney stone. I was still salty about my wife not noticing me writhing on the bed. Said I was "kind of a wuss when it comes to pain".
A kid at my school got struck by lightning in the playground - I thought a bomb had gone off, the noise and blinding light... He survived, and it definitely got him laid in the end
I was about 50 feet from a pole that a transformer get hit, while we were packing to get the fuck off the beach. I got the thunder plus the box fucking exPLOOOOOding
When I was a kid, on vacation with parents near a beach, a thunderstorm was zapping stuff left and right. We were in a big tent with a metal frame, and the storm didn't want to leave. It was an absolute nightmare.
I guess they had lightning rods installed, because we never got hit, but it made me hate thunderstorms with a passion. Camping grounds was absolutely flooded the next day, except for a few spots, including our tent, which was standing on a tiny hill.
I guess I could have soiled myself back then, but I was fear-sweating so much (swimming in my bedroll) that I'm sure my body had no water left to make urine. 😅
I knew someone who survived a lightning strike. Said they had no clue what happened just one second they were standing up the next they were on the ground

Lightning made contact with the gravel road in front of my truck as I was driving. The hair on my arms stood up. Scary doesn't describe it.
