"Oh won't someone please think of the poor hungry puppy?"

This person always has a story. Like the time their dogs insulin was stolen. TWICE. And they just need $20 to go buy some more. Promise.

Yup. I think last week they found a lost kitten at 10 pm and didn't have food or a vet open... But for $20, Uber Eats would... something something...

Reported them a few times, post gets deleted 24 hours later

If only vetslulin only cost $20...

I made the mistake of helping someone once and now get monthly PayPal requests. I stick to the free pizza dude now.

Honestly I just assume anyone asking for money is scamming. The real heros like KFD don't ask often and provide consistent proof of their good deeds.

Whenever I see people asking for money on Imgur I check their other posts. Almost every time, their post history is mostly sob stories with links to their gofundme or whatever

A good general rule is dont give money to people on here. So many scammers.

IMO the longer and more convoluted the story, the less I believe it. 1,000 words to say “it’s not my fault” and then ask for money

It’s prob written by AI anyway.

Looks like they've deleted everything incriminating.

Tho their last undeleted post from a year ago has them running the "only direct message me" scam, to keep them from getting called out as a scammer.

Seems this ShadowShea caught on, because they deleted many of their posts and comments. Good on you for calling out what honestly seems to be a scam.

Imgur is infested with people or robots doing this. Just another way it’s enshitifying.

Both my Mom and I had a scammer reach out with teacup chihuahuas. First it was $350, willing to drop off. Then in 5 minutes it was only $50. Couldnt meet in person to hand over 'the paperwork' even though we were willing to come to them. Had to be a wire transfer to reserve one...I have never paid for a dog (other than vet bills), and I have two AKC registered Aussie-doodles (Aunt had her dogs breed and dumped two on us, the rest sold for $3500, which I find insane). 1/2

Anyways I could tell by the grammar that English was at least a second language. I was hoping it wasn't a scam, but it became very apparent that it was. My guess is they just collect puppy pics, then say they need homes quickly, and take whatever 'reserve' they can get. I personally go for rescues, but my Mom had a chihuahua and wanted another. "Sorry others have made me seem like a scam, but I still need $50 to reserve the puppy. What payment method do you use?" Cash in person was a no-go...2/2

I have no idea who would buy a dog sight-unseen from a total rando.

All else aside if you want to PAY for a dog you should be researching ethical, responsible breeders in advance.

1 week ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fuck scammers.
& also, fuck breeders.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

anyone who doesn't spot that as a scam immediately should not be allowed unsupervised access to the internet

Maybe don't shame people for empathy.
"They deserved it" is shitty.
Protect the vulnerable.

1 week ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

Lol you're the only one who said "they deserved it".

You came here and put words into someone's mouth, then attacked them for something you made up. Congrats dude, you're the problem.

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 10

There's empathy, and then theres not being able to spot an obvious scam. And they are suggesting to protect the vulnerable by not letting them spend money on stuff like this.
